Are Our Phones Turning Into Our Lives?

Phones seem to have a large part of our undivided attention throughout our whole day. Whether for business, social, or the menacing hour boredom strikes. Technology gets us day to day in this society, and we all know that one person that goes bananas when their phone’s dead or that person that nearly flips out when they can’t find their phone. We look to our phones for communication; that long lost friend you need to catch up with, social media; those Instagram posts from some of your favorite people or that tweet that you just had to post to reveal how you were feeling, and business purposes; those from work who you need to be in tune with. Younger generations use it to connect with each other the most. As phone fanatics in a tech crazed world we can’t seem to look to other things for entertainment. I barely can pay attention to television anymore due to the fact that my phone is more interesting. Phone usage is widely expanding and a person can barely even carry a conversation without checking their phones for a notification or in hopes of a notification.

Is all this attention we give our phones good for our society even though it assists us so much? Could we become what we hold in the palm of our hand, a emotionless device or an overly information craving human being? Are we missing out on the world while we're so busy raving about it on twitter and posting pictures of it on Instagram? How much is too much when it comes to phones? Think about whether you could go a day or maybe two without your hand held. Would you be pulling your hair out while encountering withdrawal or would you be the one with no weight of the world on his or her shoulders and actually living life? People definitely were able to before technology.

At another glance, another question arose when I thought about media; when it comes to twitter and Instagram, are we posting for validation? Think about it, these days if a person attends a concert or goes to the club they are most likely to post or tweet explaining how they had the time of their lives, how they almost fell down some steps to a possible death or they post a picture that pretty much explains their night. The question is, are people posting for their selves or posting to look like they have a life to others? Depends all on the reason, I've considered reasons such as personal advertising purposes and marketing strategies; the more you post the more is seen and viewed, this rules out a good amount of social media users, but what other reasons could there be?

Flowers: Do We Love Them or The Thought?

Flowers are thought of as the language of love, or at least use to be. Through all the nights I've stayed in countlessly watching romance blockbusters and running to the bathroom for tissue every kiss and a half, giving flowers to a lady really showed admiration and that a guy wanted to pursue her. Since teenage adolescence I had always thought men were supposed to provide flowers if he was interested,  not knowing that I was at a certain age where I would just throw them aside and let them die with no regard. I had to evaluate whether I was longing for the thought or the flowers themselves. And I thought does any one else feel this way? Do women just want men to buy them flowers cause its in been portrayed as romantic in the movies and that every guy is just automatically supposed to? Some women are lovers of flowers, they have gardens and watch them grow into beautiful blooms and they are a special commodity to them. What about the women that just would prefer something handpicked ( actually if a man tells you he handpicked you flowers MARRY HIM) rather than flowers? What if a nice coffee mug was all a woman wanted? Do flowers have to be the main thought that comes to a man's head, when he wants to give something to a woman?

Valentines day is when flowers really pop up, balloons, candy and victoria secret underwear just suffocating the world everywhere (sounds magical doesnt it). These days a subsequent amount of women arent really wow'ed by flowers, they are blown away more with spectacular things that involve much time and effort. More or so something a guy may have thought deeply about what she liked. To me flowers are a living symbol, I think the reaction from me would depend on what the guy was trying to say with giving me them.

Poem: First Step by J.S

Brown girl
Brown world
Footprints deep in the earth
Blending with the darks
Fitting with the whites
Seeking her place in the world
Undoubtedly taking her stride
Careful of anything that could hender her profuse mind
She'd rather press her luck
Than sit back and watch it untried
She lays low until her time and energy is potent
Till her name and her figure can be spotted
To be not visible is to be not seen
She wants neither
She cant bare it
Its her time.

Fall is Cominnnnnnnng!

My birthday season and my favorite season is soon coming! Fall! I couldn't wait to put together a collage of Fall wants. Heres a outfit I would go for, a nice white button up, olive green pants, nice grey cardigan, stylish flats, a tan tote bag to carry papers and other items, and to top it off a nice black fedora! The lipstick would compliment the whole look.

Vacation: Miami Trip

Recap of my Vacay

Lets start with the landscape, and how mind blowing and beautiful it was!

These are a few Instagram Flicks from my trip.

I spent an entire week in the beautiful sunny city of Miami. My trip was fun filled, I even brought home a delightfully mocha tan from so much beach lounging. I captured so much and went so many places, it was so exciting. For it being my second time there I definitely discovered sights I had missed the first time. Besides all of the South Beach club madness, Miami can be quite the place for touring and sightseeing. I went on a boat ride that traveled to star island featuring Millionaires Row, Fisher Island, and a couple other private housing islands for the rich and famous. It definitely inspired me and made me want to work toward my dreams so that one day I can sit outside my dock and see the same tour boat announcing that I lived there in that huge mansion! Overall the trip was exactly how I thought it would be, fulfilling and relaxing. I stuffed my face everyday, swam in nice salty clear blue beach water, and enjoyed the color changing heated pool every night. My new second home is what I would call it.

When It Comes to Mixing Prints

Karen Blanchard is one of my favorite fashion bloggers. I've followed her for years and I owe a great portion of my inspiration to her. There are no rules when she dresses and thats what I LOVE! I thought I'd share her video on my blog about mixing prints, because certain trends order you to mix prints within color range or dont mix prints at all and Karen does this effortlessly. Enjoy!

Wednesday's Tie Dye

Today called for my favorite tie dye dress with my bell sleeves! I absolutely love this dress, this happens to be one of my faves in my closet. I found this two years ago at a thrift store and I couldn't believe what my eyes were seeing. Til this day I cherish it so much. Tie dye has played its part in 70's and is still playing a part today. There has been countless occasions where I've seen tie dye shirts but a dress, c'mon! These Urban Outfitters Deena & Ozzy lace up booties that my feet have been blessed to wear are one of my daily shoes and have been my go to shoes since spring. I even wear socks with them sometimes if its chilly but since its mostly hot in the summer I stick to none.
